Summary Ministry Description

Our church is a church in transition. The church’s long time Pastor of 25 years retired in January 2021, and the church first used a series of Sunday guest preachers before hiring a part time Interim Pastor in May. The church in mid-October voted to end their long-time denominational affiliation and become an independent church. The new Pastor will need to be well grounded in their preaching and teaching of the Word of God using the Bible as their source, and reflect a nurturing spiritual message which inspires us to spread the word of Christ’s boundless love. The early focus will be to build the congregation and growing our youth and young family population within our aging congregation.

We have a treasured tradition of leaving politics at the door upon entering the church. Community outreach is central to our ministry and congregational involvement. We are the church of music in our community which continues under the direction of Tyler Vance.

Tyler Vance, a long-time resident and teacher in the McCall area, is the very talented and personable Director of Music for the McCall Community Congregational Church.

Spring and Fall Socials

Each year we hold Spring and Fall Socials, and a summer picnic on the lake.  The Lenten season brings a series of Soup and Bread gatherings including programs with inspirational music, local or community affairs speakers. 

Other Social Events

Other social events are an Easter Breakfast prepared by the men of the congregation, an Easter Egg Hunt, a formal Mother’s Day Tea, and a Christmas party

for the children featuring Father and Mrs. Claus. Many of our events have been traditionally held at the Pilgrim Cove Camp and Conference facility on Payette Lake.

What We Value in Our Area

McCall is a beautiful city of about 3,400 built on a large lake about 100 miles North of the Boise Metro-Treasure Valley region. It is a resort city that often grows by another 10-20,000 on the weekends in the summer season. It is the hub of a major recreation region with three ski areas, several public golf courses, fishing both summer and winter, snow mobile riding, a large ice rink, hiking, quad and side by side riding, mountain trail motorcycle riding and bicycle riding on both mountain trails and public roads. McCall has a large winter carnival that draws over 30,000. There is a robust local music scene with two major summer festivals, and multiple weekly summer live events.

The beauty of our diverse town is unsurpassed, being voted one of the most beautiful cities in our country. We have a community theater and orchestra.   We enjoy a small town flavor where neighbors are friends in an intimate community that nurtures and supports our schools, the arts, many talented musicians and artists, a culture unique to such a small town. We are very proud and supportive of our award-winning school district and bring enthusiastic support to school sports programs. McCall has a K-12 Christian School. Our small town offers a first-class hospital, several medical clinics, numerous philanthropic organizations, a regional airport, and scores of multi-denominational and several independent churches.

About Us

We are approximately 100 members, both Resident and Associate Members, and some seasonal or part-time members.

Position title: Permanent Pastor.

Compensation and Support:

Salary:  Commensurate with experience

Compensation Package: Salary, housing allowance, phone, and car mileage reimbursement.

Scope of Work: The pastor will be expected to be the Shepherd of the flock. This includes CEO and Administrative/Management and understanding the business side of the church. Have a watchful eye attuned to decisions of others, both for the short- and long-term impacts. Decisions need to be fiscally sound, budget based, and at all times be above reproach.

Preaching/Leading Worship and Teaching. Prepare the weekly order of worship and present the weekly sermons. Lead in prayer and teaching through the preached sermon and Bible readings that are true to the word of God in a traditional, non-worldly way reflecting the grace and love of Jesus Christ. This includes coordinating with Tyler Vance the music for the week.

Christian Education, Discipleship, Children’s Ministry all encompass a category of spreading the Word of God and bringing others to Christ. This is key to church growth in the long term. It will be important for the pastor to do outreach in the community.

Counseling – Must be approachable, non-threatening, and preferably have sufficient life experience to have creditability. The counseling should be Biblically based and the Pastor must be completely trust worthy with confidences.  Conduct wellness calls and visitations as needed.

Education/Background – Courses and career experience will be considered in evaluation of the qualifications for the scope of work.

Missions, Church Growth and Specialty Programs will all come with a sound and growing church.

Provide support and leadership as needed in healing divisions within the body, processing healthy conflict.

The continuation of present ministries, especially our music connection within our congregation and the community.

To remain connected with our community and local churches through pastoral outreach;

Building spiritual growth and discipleship through active bible studies and teaching;

To increase the declining numbers of congregation (due to aging) and encourage young families and children to bring their gifts of youth and enthusiasm to our loving and generous church.

The maintenance of ministries and activities presently in place are very important. Showing creativity in drawing up of new and appealing ministries that would attract heretofore untouched segments of our community, especially youth and young families.
